The city of Pimpri‐Chinchwad is situated towards the northwest of Pune and 160 km from Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra. The city has an area of 171 sq. km with an estimated population of over 12.5 lakhs. For administrative purposes, the entire city is divided into six wards. It is predominantly an industrial area, which has developed chiefly during the last four decades.
